Sanatorium Letter
03:28

Oh Marianne!
Our evenings of marching through the snow
Black stems and branches hanging low
Like scattered limbs of an amputee
On the unfolded wings of a giant swan
That lay to rest for a reverie
On her long flight home to Avalon
Oh Marianne!
From the roof beam you were cut loose
You keep the scarf that once was your noose
Wrapped tight around your porcelain neck
When the frosty wind gnaws at our skin
With metal teeth through every crack
In our vesture's smallest brin
Oh Marianne!
The specters of your agony and violence
Descend from your attic and howl in the silence
Of this cold crystalline twilight
Oh! do not heed their lures and lurid beauty
Vile recollections of ordeal and plight
To pull you toward the catastrophe

Jesus Who's With You
04:05
|
|
||
Jesus, who is with you when you're down
Who shares with you the joy of thorny crowns
All of the thieves hanging on their cross
Can't compensate for what you've lost
The love you dragged behind you when you walked
And all your weird assumptions when you talked
And when Magdalena came to seek you out
All you left her was just a shroud
Jesus, who will love you when you're gone
A motherless and anxious only son
The moment when it finally came to you
Your father's absent too
Oh we never learn
Forgiving
How come you think
We're all that meek
To hold the other cheek
Jesus, always lovingly disposed
As to your friends so you were to your foes
And that they didn't understand what for
Enraged them even more
Jesus, all the stories you have spread
That we would meet each other when we're dead
The eye up in the sky above all things
That stares and never blinks
Oh we never learn
Forgetting
How come you think
We are that strong
To bring the cross along

The Feel
03:38
|
|
||
Mom, all the dears we knew
The precious, oh the few
The closer enemies
Where have they gone to?
The soft machines, the perturbing trees
The mezzanines and all the rumbling in the walls
When a four-clawed winter crawled
Toward our miserable crib
And we, piled up on hay
Clenched fists to not let slip
The warmer hours that seep away
Our loose and falling hair
The nearest end and we pretend
We weren't really there
This old ghost fire
Needs images to burn
And winding in its turn
It unfurls and encloses
And in a reek of roses
The smell of time expired
The feel of colder hours flowing
Mom, where are we going?
And can you say
There's been a need to bear your child?
Oh Mom can you say
There's been a need to bear your child?

Alone With Everyone
02:07
|
|
||
The light refrains again
The door ajar but I stay in
The shade-outlined position
Between four solid walls
I think the planned transition's only hypothetical
Shun the words I've written
The mess they have become
I'm alone with everyone I know
Time's nothing but a traitor
Its promises we wait for
I shy away from the picture
I created of myself
Replace it with a painting
Of ordeal and bad health
Done balancing the good and bad
No distance left to run
I will let down everyone
All gestures seem so paltry
Not even death belongs to me
The tunes I hummed in silence
The poetry I wailed
How everything reminds me of just how much I have failed
I can't describe the feeling
When confidence gone
And I'm left alone with everyone I know
I'm alone with everyone I know

Three Kids
03:00
|
|
||
By the fountain in our town
Three kids are hanging from a tree
Their sleepy faces pointing down
To winding roots beneath
And lo! This peaceful image, Hark!
What blissful sounds emerge
When their skulls knock on the bark
As the cool winds surge
(They hum a silent song
These old tree’s younger fruit
And all the watchdogs bark along
In our neighborhood
When the night is warm and good
And graced by diamond dew
At the first beam of the morning
They start their song anew)
And this whisper caresses the world
Through roots, as swaying mud
It floods into the earth still un-stillable
To encounter in pure reveries
In outer worlds, a sound but
With ribbons tied to every single syllable.

Figures In The Frost
02:19
|
|
||
For the 'visionaire'
All his sleepless nights
All creation falls
Such a waste of time
Open window
The heaving of the hand
Flouting airflow
That desecrates the end
For the homeless
And all occupied space
The scorn of freedom
Its foul and bitter taste
All the roads to walk
The distances to stray
In all directions
Seems safe and sound to stay
For the tired mind
Drawing figures in the frost
To recount the faces
Once loved and finally lost
For the sleep deprived
And all the pain it takes
To keep on the light
The strain of being awake
For their keepsake

Cessation Lake
07:57
|
|
||
From what I know they told me
From all that I have heard
I was born a beautiful beast
Babbling brilliant words
Even I myself can't understand
And with all I have at hand
I cannot penetrate the surface of sheer turmoil
My solemn nights as black as oil
Everything I know is freely floating through my fingers
And my mind won't be at ease
Until it ceases
Guilt looms in the darkness
The horror in the wake
And where we ache that's where we'll break
Cessation Lake
Cessation Lake
O Cessation Lake
Everything is at stake
Your every wave after wave
All the blackness you gave
The vanishing line
Where you marry the night
The wet salty breath
The dead-bearing death
The sand of all urns
That the wind turns and turns
All you've taken to drown
The gold on your ground
The bones beneath your mounds
The absence of sound
The sleep kills the wake
O Cessation Lake
O beautiful fear
It's a long way to here
And you blow with a vehemence
That no reed can withstand
The panic in your heart
The futility of a start
The hours piling up
By the ticking of clocks
And you've come to take
The sleep and the wake
The succession of day
After day after day
You're a possibility
We decide to fight or flee
But you stay as a preacher
For death is a silent teacher
Death is a silent teacher

Mountain Of Solace
04:24
|
|
||
What are you up to child
You grow so fast I'm losing track of time
Do the world's colors cheer up your tired eyes
Is the grass really greener on the other side
You thought freedom had no borders
And love would take us away from here
But nature has its orders
And soldiers march up at any frontier
What did you dream at night
Of a place where peace is just a state of mind
And did you sleep calmly, your troubles put aside
Numbed by all these questions, too tired to reply
The solution is proposed
But in a language we don't know
Each second another door closed
And every road that we go takes us farther away from home
