Recess

from The Famous Carnival by Dullwood

/

lyrics

All the world's in quarantine now
The hours wind up minutes to more hours
The warm mud and all that it devoured
Burnt black boughs beneath bright snow

Now desolation drags behind us
Like a bloodhound on a chain
Let's renovate the last few remains
The cell membranes around our nucleus

Words don't seem to express all that they should
And music's never more than a plain jingle
But our fleeting shadows sometimes mingle
In a way that our bodies never could

If life's a fool's tale meaning nothing
Full of fury and of sound
We'll sit and we'll listen to it spellbound
We will dance and we will sing

And we will celebrate mankind's fall
The apple that has made our drunken minds sober
And will we say when it's all over
That we've had fun at the famous carnival?
